DayFriend - Terms of Service
Effective Date: To be confirmed before launch. DayFriend, Manchester, UK.
1. About DayFriend
DayFriend is an online marketplace connecting clients with independent self-employed Pro/Companions across the United Kingdom. DayFriend is classified as an introductory agency under CQC guidance. References to DayFriend, we, us or our mean the DayFriend platform operator based in Manchester, UK.
2. What DayFriend Is and Is Not
DayFriend provides a platform through which clients and Pro/Companions connect. DayFriend does not employ Pro/Companions, supply Pro/Companions to clients, act as a care agency, manage or supervise the delivery of services, or hold CQC registration as a care provider. DayFriend facilitates introductions only.
DayFriend operates as an introductory marketplace only. We connect clients with independent self-employed Pros. DayFriend does not employ, manage, supervise or direct any Pro. All service arrangements are made directly between the client and the Pro. DayFriend's payment system exists solely to protect both clients and Pros and does not constitute management, direction or supervision of any service provided.
3. Definitions
Platform means dayfriend.co.uk. Pro/Companion means an independent self-employed individual registered on DayFriend. Client means an individual booking a Pro/Companion. Care Recipient means the person receiving the service. Booking Fee means DayFriend's fee charged to clients on top of the Pro/Companion's stated rate.
4. Pro/Companion Eligibility
To register as a Pro/Companion you must be at least 18 years old, have the legal right to work in the UK, and provide accurate, complete and truthful profile information.
Green stream Pro/Companions (Tiers 1, 2, 3, 4 and 9) must complete Stripe Identity biometric verification before their profile goes live.
Orange stream Pro/Companions (Tiers 5, 6, 7, 8 and 10) must hold a valid Enhanced DBS certificate with Adults' Barred List. This may be applied for via uCheck or, if already held and registered on the DBS Update Service, verified by DayFriend admin. Profiles are manually reviewed before activation.
Green stream Pro/Companions (Tiers 1, 2, 3, 4 and 9) are required to hold a valid Domiciliary Care Insurance policy. Orange stream Pro/Companions (Tiers 5, 6, 7, 8 and 10) are required to hold a valid Self-Employed Carer Insurance policy.
5. Pro/Companion Responsibilities
Pro/Companions are solely responsible for the accuracy of all profile information, maintaining qualifications, training, certifications, licences, insurance and legal requirements, updating their profile if information changes, and providing services with reasonable skill and care. Pro/Companions must not undertake work they feel unqualified to perform.
6. Tier 5 - Travel Assist
Pro/Companions on Tier 5 provide travel accompaniment and mobility assistance only. They accompany clients during journeys but do not drive clients or provide any form of transport service. Clients are responsible for arranging their own transport.
7. Client Responsibilities
Clients are responsible for reviewing Pro/Companion profiles and assessing suitability, providing accurate care information, treating Pro/Companions with respect, and making full payment through DayFriend. For complex clinical or medical care, clients should seek advice from appropriate healthcare providers or local authority.
8. Bookings and Payments
All bookings and payments must be made through DayFriend. Arranging work outside the platform is prohibited and grounds for immediate removal.
DayFriend charges a booking fee to the client. Pro/Companions keep 100% of their stated rate.
A minimum booking of 2 hours applies across all tiers.
Tier 10 is priced weekly. Weekly rate is the primary display. Daily rate may be shown as secondary for short-term respite only.
9. Cancellation Policy

Emergency Cancellations: DayFriend may waive cancellation terms at its discretion in cases of verified emergency, including serious illness or bereavement. Requests should be submitted to hello@dayfriend.co.uk with supporting information where possible.
10. Checks and Vetting
Stripe Identity confirms identity only, not competence or qualifications. Enhanced DBS with Adults' Barred List confirms criminal record and barred list status only, not competence or qualifications. DayFriend does not assess, endorse or guarantee the qualifications, training, competence or suitability of any Pro/Companion.
11. Insurance
Green stream Pro/Companions (Tiers 1, 2, 3, 4 and 9) are required to hold a valid Domiciliary Care Insurance policy covering non-physical support services. Orange stream Pro/Companions (Tiers 5, 6, 7, 8 and 10) are required to hold a valid Self-Employed Carer Insurance policy covering physical and personal care services. Insurance is self-declared by the Pro/Companion via mandatory declaration before registration. DayFriend does not verify or guarantee the validity of any insurance declared. Clients should satisfy themselves that a Pro/Companion holds appropriate insurance before booking.
12. Limitation of Liability
DayFriend is not liable for the actions, omissions, competence or conduct of any Pro/Companion. DayFriend's maximum liability to any user shall not exceed the booking fee paid for that booking.
13. Zero Tolerance
DayFriend operates zero tolerance toward abusive or discriminatory behaviour, substance misuse, providing services under the influence of alcohol or drugs, false profile information, and any unlawful conduct. Breaches result in immediate suspension or permanent removal.
14. Suspension and Removal
DayFriend may suspend or terminate any account immediately and without notice for breach of these Terms, safeguarding concerns, or circumventing platform fees.
15. Platform-Only Rule
