Stay-in (Live-in) Support
DayFriend connects individuals and families with Enhanced DBS checked companions who provide a co-residential presence. Stay-in Support companions live at the client home for an agreed period and provide ongoing companionship, daily support, and a trusted presence.
What you can expect
Stay-in Support suits people who need a constant trusted presence at home for safety, companionship, or day-to-day support, including during recovery or while family members are away. Stay-in Support Pros are vetted and their profiles approved by DayFriend before they appear on the platform. You and your family review profiles and choose the Pro you feel is right. The decision is always yours. The minimum booking is seven continuous days. For shorter support, see Carer Relief.
Live-in companions place across Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Merseyside and Lancashire, including Oldham, Crewe, St Helens and Lancaster.

About the role
Stay-in Support companions live at the client’s home for the agreed placement period. You should be adaptable, reliable, and comfortable in a residential setting. You must hold a valid Enhanced DBS certificate with Adults’ Barred List check and Self-Employed Carer Insurance covering the services you offer. Your profile must be approved by DayFriend before it goes live and you can be found by clients.
Companion requirements
- Self-employed Enhanced DBS with Adults Barred List check through uCheck, approved by DayFriend before your profile goes live
- Your profile remains hidden until the DBS check is manually approved
- Every Stay-in Support placement requires additional DayFriend review
- List all relevant personal care and residential experience on your profile
Important note
The minimum booking is seven continuous days and cannot be waived. For shorter support, see Carer Relief. If an in-progress arrangement must end immediately, the companion must receive at least four hours to vacate. This is not a nursing or clinical care service. DayFriend operates as an introductory marketplace only. You and your family are responsible for choosing a suitable Pro. The Stay-in arrangement is made directly between the client and the Pro. DayFriend is not a party to that arrangement.
